I did it. I ran a 10 K race and I did it in 56 min!! Don’t get too excited it was all downhill so my pace was faster and easier than it ever is for training. My sister and brother-in-law ran in it with me as well as over 13000 other people. It was exhilarating, I thought it would be crowded but it wasn’t. There was lots of space to run. Couple of key things I learned- 1. Pay close attention to the cup you grab at the water station- is it water or gatorade? otherwise you are accidently pouring gatorade over your head. Makes the rest of the run rather sticky. 2. I physically cannot drink out of a cup and run- water was spilling and splashing, I barely took in 1 ounce. 3. Be prepared for the jam after the finish line- people slow down and stop and talk and you can’t get out into the open. 4. Go to the bathroom at the porto potties before you run.! 5. Run with partners- having my sister and her husband along for the ride kept me motivated and pushed my pace. Anyway it was a great experience and I would do it again- except for having to get up at 4 am!
